Mehrnusch van der Linden-Anssari, LL.M
Mehrnusch van der Linden-Anssari is a doctoral candidate and has been a research fellow at the Institute for International Peace and Security Law under the supervision of Prof. Claus Kreß. She has completed her law studies at the University of Cologne with the specialisation Public International Law and European law in 2011. In addition, she studied abroad at Istanbul Bilgi University and at National Law School of India University. Mehrnusch has acquired her full qualification for legal practice in Germany (Second State Examination) in 2016. Previously, she attained the degree Master of Laws in Advanced Studies in Public International Law with the specialisation Peace, Justice, and Development at Leiden University in 2013. Moreover, Mehrnusch has practiced law in Germany and abroad, for instance at international law firms and, as a legal trainee, at Germany’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna and at the UN Codification Division of the Office of Legal Affairs in New York.
Her doctoral thesis pertains to the temporal scope of the right of self-defence once triggered by an armed attack. The thesis question is: When does self-defence end? Apart from international peace and security law, her research interests include international human rights law and international criminal law.
To advance her research, Mehrnusch has spent a research stay as a Visiting Scholar at Columbia Law School in New York. She is a member of the Cologne Center for Advanced Studies in International History and Law.
