Joana de Andrade Pacheco

Joana Pacheco is a PhD candidate of the Institute for International Peace and Security Law under the supervision of Prof. Claus Kress. Her research, which is being undertaken with the support of the Studienstiftungdes deutschen Volkes, examines the work of the International Law Commission in the field of international criminal law from a systemic integration perspective. 

Previously, Joana has studied at the Federal University of Minas Gerais where she graduated in law and obtained her master’s degree in public international law. She has worked as an assistant to Mrs. Galvão Teles during the seventy-third session of the International Law Commission and Mr. Grossman Guiloff during the seventy-fifth and seventy-sixth sessions. 

Joana’s research interests include general international law, international criminal law, international humanitarian law and the law of international organizations.
